What an amazing spring we have had here in Valdez, great weather, epic snow and an outrageous cast of characters!
Business was brisk in Valdez this spring with an above average number of skiers and snowboarders taking full advantage of a great time in the mountains. We would hope the trend of visitors is on the up with events like Tailgate Alaska tailgatealaska.com , the return of King of the Hill, and the possible return of WESC next spring, spurring up intrest in Valdez.
As for the Chairlift Project we have had a sucessful media season with Devon Oneil from Skiing Magazine touring the site for an article due out around next New Year, professional photographer Tony Harrington (Harro) getting some epic shots wheresharro.com , USA Today's James Sullivan, and Method Mag/TV's Rasmus Ostergaard method.tv methodmag.com joining a crazy crew of locals and rockstars Shawn Farmer, Travis Rice, Scotty Lago, and Mark Landvic on the proposed chairlift site! Look for clips in the new sequel to "Thats it, thats all"
We anticipate running the Snowcat operation on East Peak in the spring of 2011, stay tuned for details coming out later this summer!!!
A task force is currently being formed to make this chairlift project happen, and as always our search continues for Investors interested in participating in the creation of a new attraction based in Valdez.
March 5th 2010:
Sorry there have been no updates in quite some time, Valdez has been having a great snow season in 09-10 with above average snowfall, and very little rainfall, making for some of the most epic turns in the last twenty years!
Many have been asking about the Snowcat operation on East Peak this year, unfortunately plans did not pan out for this season, but we are organizing a marketing plan to start this spring and summer to insure we are secure and improved in spring of 2011.
Our search continues for Investors interested in participating in the creation of a new attraction based in Valdez. Economic fears as well as Valdez's "remoteness" has put this project on pause for the time being, but we welcome anyone who would like to tour the project site to contact us.
Tailgate Alaska 2010 is kicking off March 24th and will be hosting "King of the Hill" World Extreme Snowboarding Championships the first week of April, should be a great time on Thompson Pass! To check out the schedule go the tailgatealaska.com site.

Ryan is Currently in New Zealand competing in the World Heli Challenge, check out the details at from August 28 to Sept 12 . Our snow season in Valdez was cut short due to the Mount Redoubt ash fall, black snow has never been a good thing. Doug Fulton stoked us out with 2 days of flying over and around the project site in his Stinson Flying Station Wagon, check out the photos on the Base Area Property page. The last 2 weekends have been spent out at the base area cutting some trails and burning brush, we also completed the trail to the Valdez Glacier Lake.

After several days in wind and minus 0 temperatures, we have finally completed the snow cat trail brushing to the top of the tree line, this greatly improves access to the mountain by lowering the grade and straightening out the main trail. A big THANKS to Nate, Ryan, Shane and Jerry for braving the cold and getting the job done.

The D-8 Dozer was back in action this last weekend, completing the buffer zone road and heading out to the mountain base to cut in almost 9,000 feet of new roads and trails. These new roads open up the land for future subdivision of residential and commercial lots, also a big THANK YOU to John, Curt, Steve and the guys at Harris S&G for your hard work and completing the entire job for 2008.
October 14th 2008
We have begun on placing a road around the end of Corbin creek Subdivision serving as a ?Buffer Zone? required from the city of Valdez. After several bull dozer problems we were forced to load up and head home with an uncompleted road.
October 2nd 2008
A special thank you to all of the CMRC project supporters who traveled out to the future chair-lift site for an open-house tour, and thank you to Brielle Schaeffer from the Valdez Star, and Josh Smith from KCHU for your reports on the project?s progress. We were fortunate to have a couple beautiful days to enjoy the views and get out for some hiking out to the Valdez Glacier Lake as well as up the mountain trail.
September 24th 2008
Thank you to the citizens of Valdez and those abroad who have supported an idea for a year round chair-lift and recreation center for many years. As you all are aware, Alaska has been in the international spot-light for several years, not only politically but very much in the adventure realm as well. This in turn is great news for all projects in Alaska, such as gas lines, new oil drilling, State repairs and improvements, as well as drawing capital interest into projects such as harbors, parks and recreation centers.
Rydor Enterprises shall proceed forward with the original plan, toward a year round recreation center that will capitalize upon a huge international market while preserving energy conservation and efficiency. A project of this magnitude and world class caliber is a huge undertaking of both future planning and financial pursuit. I, as well as a large number of supporters believe in our project for Valdez and will continue to pursue this project?s development, our persistence will prevail.
I invite the people of Valdez to come out and tour the CMRC project site, to climb up the mountain trail and take in the breathtaking views of our valley. A key will be placed at the Alpetco road gate Saturday and Sunday, September 27th & 28th for anyone who wishes to visit the project site. Anyone who plans to travel to the site should be aware this is a 4X4 road with multiple stream crossings and miles of very rough road. This road should only be traveled with 4 wheelers or large 4X4 trucks. In the event of serious bad weather we will try again the following weekend of October 4th & 5th, in this event a sign will be placed at the Alpetco road gate notifying you of any changes to the plan.
SNOW CAT OPERATIONS IN FULL SWING 2009 SEASON, STAY TUNED FOR DETAILS!!!
